Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I have a 7200 rpm hard drive and
Windows 2000.
With Nascar 4 my hard drive will make some noises and the screen will freeze
3 or 4 seconds. This causes me to warp to last place. It usually happens
just once per race and it happens offline and online.

Make sure nothing is running in background except Explorer, and
Systray when you run Nascar4.  Also set your virtual memory max and
min to be the same thing at about 2xinstalled RAM.

Go to your Control Panel and open the Power Management applet. Set how long
you want the system to wait before spinning down your hard drives.

This might be Thermal Calibration, though I thought that problem went away
some 5 years ago.

If it is, you can't do anything about it.
