HELP - DIRECTX how to de-install it COMPLETELY ?

Hi folks,

ok - I couldnt solve the GPL-freezes-ingame-problem (yes I used glide 2.35,
yes I did reinstall win98, yes I used the oldest MiroHiscore2-Drivers, yes I
clocked the 3d2board as low as possible - no change) - now I would like to
re-install the shipped-gpl-direct-x5-drivers on my machine - but how can I
completely remove it from my system ? Whenever I try to install directx5 it
will leave the formerly installed direct6-3d-drivers untouched - how can I
install a 100%-direct-x-version-5 on my system ? thanx for any help

That's what worked for me. I did see a site on the web, with a download link
to a DirectX installer, but the link didn't work.

I had this problem and cured my problem by putting a copy of Glide2x.DLL ver
2.53 and Glide3x.DLL ver 3.00 in my GPL folder with no more lockups . I now
have DirectX.1 installed and have no problems , but the game uses the copy
of the DLL's from old DirectX

The very good german PC mag c't had an article about this in No. 3/99.
They used a 'trick' to fool the system by renumbering some DX version
numbers in the registry. There was even a file available,
dxbackda.exe, I think.

U should try it.
