Well, the***pit looks like a real Indycar***pit.  The revs do not turn red
on the real thing, so I don't expect them here.  It is a LCD readout... black
on gray.

Hmmmm, how does Microsoft say that? .... "It's only a demo!"  :)

Go back to playing Amiga "arcade" games.  The engine sound, which was sampled
from a kick-ass motorcycle, sounds terrific on my system, 32-bit wavetable
card with SRS sound.

Yes, true escapism!

AI seems to be even smarter than in Nascar.  And that's saying alot, because
the AI in Nascar is even smarter than me.  I am SO glad not to have to drive
those tanks anymore!

Seeing how the***pit looks like a real***pit, I am completely satisfied
with it.  If it didn't look like the real thing, and instead like an arcade
multi-colored spectacle, you would've found my complaints listed here as well.

I'll second that statement tho!

I don't know whether real INDY cars have an over-rev/change gear
now or blow the engine light, but this game sure as hell needs
one. Time after time I've blown engines. The engine note
is so different from ICR1 that is it difficult to judge by ear
when to change. I seen it posted that the engine noise is actually
from a motor bike. Well I think that is a mistake. The engine just
starts to sound "on-cam" when it blows up! Maybe its my cheap
soundblaster card...

Anyone know if they (the fair dinkum article) have a warning
(attention getter) light???

Agreed that with the current sound it does.

I understand the genuine articles now have rev limiters? Papyrus, any
plans to include this option in a patch or later releases?

<snip>

It wasn't just *my* imagination then! <smile>

Nope. The "someone" who matched the engine destruction curve to the
sound curve doesn't know what a "Kwakka with a Bassani pipe" at peak
sounds like. <grin>
