Let me know when it hits 100 bills and has proper Vista drivers.  Spending
250 bucks on a wheel is a bit too much for me.

My Microsoft FF wheel is holding up quite nicely, thank you, and I got
it for $50.

Yep, mine is holding up great too, except for the *** grips. Has anyone
found a solution to the worn out grips? I tried a generic steering wheel
wrap but I couldn't get it to fit snug..

I haven't found anything for that either. I have both a G25 and a MS FF. My
only gripe with the MS wheel is that I cannot seperate the throttle and
brake axis'. And, BTW, I went through 5-6 black Momo wheels (had the
extended warranty) with the accelerator problem and the reason that I have
the G25 now is that Best Buy credited me for my original purchase of the
Momo and I got the G25 for less than $200. I have had the MS FF since it was
released in USB, so that is quite a while back.

Yo,

I have 2 MSff wheels, and I swear I didnt think I would easily accept the
change to "another wheel" but hell, I love this g25.  look up my posts, I
was one of those 'cant believe you havent tried MSFF' people.

There is a generic wrap, which is not fixed form one. Instead you wrap it
around the steering wheel manually and tie with the attached lace. It is
mich more flexibly in terms of sizes, but takes maybe 15-30 minutes to get
done (who has that kind of patience? ;) ). I got that one and with a bit of
cutting it fit nicely. I find it quite comfortable to hold and it is still
going strong after about 3 years.

Bicycle handlebar tape should do the job.
I'm using red cork tape on my old LWFF, very comfortable.

That grey pipe insulation that has the self-sealing seam might be just about
right.  Nice, foamy grip :)

My MSFFW was the most trouble-free wheel I ever owned.  Too bad MS abandoned
the software right after releasing it.

Excuse the thread jacking...

I been waiting to see you post larry,  But I installed my G25 on my Vista
install, and as far as I can tell, everything is working, BUT I dont know if
do NOT I try to change something that you do change or edit.  What was it
you cannot do again?

I love this wheel, FWIW I have a total of 3 MS sidewinder wheels, my 1st one
was not Force feedback, the next 2 were, I bought a spare when MS
discontinued them...  again, I thought I would never ever like any wheel as
much as I did My absolutely trouble free Sidewinders.  Only reason I even
considered buying the g25 was because I "assumed" vista support, since the
sidewinder kinda has issues with XP after SP 2.

I absolutely friggin love this wheel <the G25>  I still like the sidewinder
too.

Yeah, but is it real Cinelli cork or the fake stuff?  ;-)

FWIW, another option - tennis racquet grip tape is cheap, easy to come by,
and there are a zillion varieties of thickness, texture, colors, etc...

I have the same issues most others have with the current software.

First, it will not detect the wheel properly.  When the 'instructions' on
the driver page for vista are used, it is detected as a DFP instead of a G25
and is non-functional.

I'm told that even if you do get it installed correctly, the profiler
software doesn't work correctly.

I've just never gotten that far.
