Fixed Coventry that uses Brabham Chasis (Question)

I read on a Sim website that there are some problems with the GPL
Coventry and that they have been corrected by someone using the Brabham
chasis with some tweaks.  I don't have the link (at work, shhhh.)

Question:  Will I need to use Brabham setups now, or will my Coventry
setups still work?

Hi, Dave, the only problems with the Coventry are that it is not used
enough in GPL...
There are a few tweaks you can do to improve the driveability and
performance of the Coventry, but that is only slight setup adjustments.
Go ahead and use the Coventry, i am sure you will find it easy to drive
and a joy to race.
If you need or want any help setting up the Coventry for speed, just
drop me an email and i will help you out..

Alison Hine has a set of easy to drive Coventry setups on her page at:
http://www.nh.ultranet.com/~alison/gpl/
They are good to start with to get used to the Coventry, though i don't
find them loose enough or fast enough for my liking.

I am developing the Coventry for all the tracks in GPL, as we are doing
spec racing for the league i am in, and it takes a lot of beating, when
it is set up right.  It will never compete with a Lotus or Eagle in the
right hands, but it will still scare them. <G>
My best Monza time in the Coventry is a 1:30.10, and a 3:23.30 at Spa,
so as you can see,  it is capable of a good turn of speed when set up
right.
Cheers,
Ron

Thanks, that's what I was hoping!  I love this car :)  I can actually
keep it on the track, which means more fun as I learn!

Hi David,
Yes, you're kind of correct but not quiete. The Coventry shape in GPL is based
on Brabham (and Honda on Eagle) These shapes do not represent the car very
well mainly because of the track and wheelbase being different on both
accounts. Also, I think the tyres were diffrent width. Now GPL models the
track/wheelbase/tyres and all else of Cooper (and Honda) correctly but the
visuals do not represent this. ie. you can crash into the side of Coventry
even though it "looks like" thre is still a few inches of room.
Now, the fixe/s only fix the shapes (that's all that's needed) so that the
track/wheelbase/tyres represent the cars closer. These fixes do not change in
any way the way the car/s drive just the way they look so drive kit like you
always drove the coventry (or marusama).
You can get the fixes at Fast-Lane http://www.grandprix2.com/gpl/
