[snip snip]
: Trying to figure this out has gotten me stumped, and this is why I
: came here for help. Do I convert the qualify setup to a race setup?
: Or do I just make a race setup from scratch? What are the pointers
: and pitfalls for the second approach?
I usually work on a race setup first (Lil Al's approach). I do this by
starting out with about 25 gals and run til I have about 18-15 gals
left. This approach usually works to get a good setup for long haul.
One of the other things I do is play with the anti-sway bars as the
car's weight changes and the tires wear. After about 10 gals have been
used I tighten both anti-sway bars one notch.
It's hard to say how to change your qualifying setup since everybody
usually has a different approach. I usually end up with a little bit
more wing for race setups.
: The second series of questions relates to graphics setup. My P-133 w/
: 16 meg ram and 1 meg cirrus dram run ICR2 pretty okay. It can run
: SVGA with very few details and cars, but the increased resolution
: helps me see better. VGA have high frame rate with everything on most
: of the time and max AI cars. What I am wondering is which one should
: I practice in? Should I be concentrating on driving the car better in
: preseason (SVGA), or with lots of AI cars and traffic (VGA)? What are
: the pros and cons associated with each?
I would suggest keeping to 1 resolution and video options for
everything. The car's handling is related to the frame rate. The
faster the frame rate the easier it is to handle the car. I have opted
for SVGA with a frame rate around 18-22.
