Here's some more info from Gamespot...

Crash and Burn Courtesy of Bethesda
Bethesda and Hot Rod Magazine are teaming up for Burnout: Championship Drag
Racing, a PC title due next month. Twenty tracks, 20 cars, customizable
components, full-on tire-burning starts, crashes, and explosions are part
of the package.

It will support multiplayer too.

Like I already said previously, 3DFX support is the biggy here!

Two questions that I have after checking out the pages and previews:

    1) Why the "Sportsman" bracket-racing sim instead of the really hot
stuff like Top Fuel or Funny Car?

    2) Why no in-cockpit driving view? Apparently it will have only
over-the-hood and "trackside camera" views.

I used to race an A/FD in the old "Pro Comp" bracket which at least was all
heads-up racing. I always really hated the "dial-in handicap" type of racing
and wouldn't want to do it in a sim either. Just my personal preference, but
when's a good T/F sim going to come out?

I, too, am e***d about drag racing finally coming to life on the PC...
At least we'll have some form of it to play. (I prefer Pro Stock and Pro
Bike classes
but that will be for the next release!...)

This from GORACING.COM's historical news section, hope it helps:

9-8-97 NHRA Drag Racing computer game will roar to life next year
Next February, in conjunction with the 1998 NHRA season-opening Chief Auto
Parts Winternationals, Tantrum Entertainment Inc., will release a new
computer game, NHRA Drag Racing. Tantrum President Tony Simerman gave NHRA
Online this exclusive interview that only begins to hint at the depth of
this game's features and e***ment.

>The above mentioned T/F - Funny Car sim is supposed to be incar.

>Wish I could remember the name... :-(
