I would assume this is the best you will find on the net:

However I sure could use some help here.  Regardless of setup I am in
the 1:19.x range.  Turning more laps has resulted in getting slower.
Over the last 6 months all the NR2003 forums have dried up and now I
cant find anyone that is actively discussion Infineon.  HELP how do
you get around this place?  I am 5 to 7 seconds off the pace any help
you give will not let me beat you so please give freely :-)

I can do 1:16s with the Fast setup, and I suck at RC's.  SO if I were you
I'd spend a boatload of time on the track before worrying about setups. :)

I can almost guarantee you are trying TOO hard.

Don't drive in as deep.  Go for speed on exit, not on entry.

I'm no road course mastermind, but I've learned the above the hard way :)

I believe you are correct, but oddly some of the better RL qualifiers today
were not coming out of the turns at full throttle.  Based on the brake and
throttle displays they show on TV, quite a few drivers were coasting around
turns 4 and 7, and to some degree even 10, and not getting back onto the
throttle until well past the apex, almost until they were fully straight
again.  Not sure how much difference it made - Jeff Gordon drove that way
and qualified 1st, but OTOH Rusty drove the course in the more traditional
manner, full throttle at or very near the apex, and qualified 2nd.  It
seemed like most of the drivers though were coasting through the turns.

He's right, if not getting any faster with more laps then without a
doubt you would be over driving, slow in - fast out is really the key
at infineon, concentrate on driving a smooth line with minimum tire
squeal.

Its a difficult place to hussle a cup car around and I certainly
havn't come close to mastering it yet.

Thanks for the advice!

So here is where I stand:  I have hit 1:18:3xx and can get 1:18.7 for
a few laps.  But I am leaning on my left side tires too much and
wearing them out.  So have some work to do there too.  I turned
steering assist off, and set steering linearity to 100%.  I had been
running with SA off for some of my practice so that was not a big
dieal but 100% SL did take some getting used to.  I also stopped
hunting for the magic setup and settled on Expert (did set the
steering ration to 12:1 and am playing with the brake bias).

As for the Cup cars qualifying yesterday....I am not sure I trust the
graphics that they show for brake and throttle.  If you watch real
close I dont think the audio and the lights are in synch.  I watched
Mark Martin and JGordons laps several times.  Several times I heard
them on the throttle yet the light showed no green.  Just my opionion
but I think there is a delay on that telemetry.  I think the same
thing happens online with their trackpass too.  Thoughts?

I think I figured that one out actually.  First it wasn't just the
telemetry, it really did look as if many of them were overdriving the slower
turns and still turning in a good lap time.  However the lap times are all
down versus last year due to the new pavement.  And even the quickest guys
made obvious mistakes which cost them time and put them back closer to the
guys that were driving it incorrectly.  So I think once the drivers adjust
to the new pavement we will see the records broken again and we will also
see the guys who know how to drive correctly pull away from the guys who are
pushing too hard.

I think you're correct.  I'd say it's probably intentional although
the lag could just be due to buffering large amounts of data.  Hard to
say for sure.
