The ol' Thrustmaster T2 is taking its last gasp...

I have a pretty good price on an Utimate Per4mer wheel and pedals....  model
UP-200 no FF.  I need a new setup, nothing too fancy just something to use
and abuse until that bucket of money falls out of the sky. I remember
reading a review of the Per4mer in PC Gamer and if I recall, it faired
moderately well (I could be thinkin of a different one tho') and I just
don't feel like diggin' through all of the back issues to find it, so y'all
throw yer opinions in if you would....

I'm not worried about the latest and greatest features, I just want
something that works... there are a few things it MUST do and do well
however:  IndyCar Racing 2, Nascar99, Nascar3, and GPL -- if it works with
those, I can get past any other shortcomings....   is it worth a ***or
would I be better off wrapping aluminum foil around a stick and tying an
empty Wolf Brand Chile can to it......?

I don't particularly care for the shape of the wheel, but I can stick a
Grant GT on it if I need to - the pedals do look pretty tasty.....

Although many I'm sure would deride me for saying it, I really like my TM F1
- Nascar Pro in the US I believe.  It's got a nice feel, a great set of split
axis pedals with different feel for the brake - I hardly ever lock wheels in
GPL now but did it all the time with my old T2 - and is the best looking
(IMHO) wheel you can buy in the budget to mid price range.  It works well
with all the titles you mention as it's an old DOS style device. They seem to
be going fairly cheap at the mo.  Mine was 70 about 8 months ago.

Cheers,

Hey Mark,
I couldn't agree more... i've had my trusty ol' Thrustmaster 'Formula 1
for about 2 years or so now and it's still performing fine. As I like
the pedals to be quite stiff I simply used some bungy cord around them
to give me the exact tension I require. It may not look pretty but who
cares. it gives them a great feel.

Cheers

If you don't have major broken parts..why don't you just put in new pots,
bungee and springs?  Would cost much less than new wheel.  Under $20 perhaps.

Check out the Wheel ratings at "The Pits"

BTW...I think my TSW2mod will last forever..  very happy with it.
