Am I the only person on the east coast having problems signing on to TEN?
Anybody know what the problem is?

  TEN is a joke.

I spent two years on HAWAII, (which was great!!) then was on the NROS
testing team for a couple of weeks before they went public and then
spent a couple more months on TEN trying to keep from getting booted off
every other league race.  I finally gave up.

They still haven't gotten their act together.  It's a shame, too.  I
loved racing in online leagues, but what's the use if you can't finish
half the races because of being booted.

That's why I cancelled my account a while ago... no sense in paying for
something that is so often offline. I much rather play GPL on my own
"terms".

If you get booted out of half of your races..It's definitely a problem on
your side and not on TEN's side.

TEN's % of boot is near 5-6% of drivers per race.  The mass people running
on the NROS have rarely boots.  I would check your PC to see it's health if
you had this problem.  Sometimes it can go as far as switching ISP's,
because to each users his own hops mostly.  Some users might go to TEN's
servers with a very bad router while going to it, and switching ISP solves
the problem.

Im sorry you gave up, TEN is much better when you have a PC in health and
tweaked for the NROS.  The same goes for any online multiplayer ***, from
air sims to FPS shooters to even GPL.

No it's not.

The "It's your ISP" problem was related to early problems back in the end of
1997 when most of the NROS users were using Concentric.  That company had
big problems and it was clearly their fault.

Please do not say stuff like that. It hurts because TEN is actually the best
current form of online racing you can get, in terms of warp, latency, and #
of drivers.  And it's a NASCAR sanctioned series.

It's your choice, but saying that TEN is often offline is totally false and
portrays a false image to the service.

It has downtimes of around 5-10hours per week in it's WORSE weeks, and there
is many weeks that TEN will never be down for the whole 168hours.  I could
prove this to you if you want.

Unless something has changed in the last couple of months, I don't understand
this post at all.  I lived on TEN for about 6 months (over 15,000 laps) and I
got booted three times.  All this with a P166 Classic, and a 33.6 modem.  If
you've got booting problems, I'd say blame your ISP, not TEN.

For the short term anyways.  All bets are off in 4 - 6 months.

If you are getting booted,  its probably your ISP or your phone lines.  Booting
(excpet at Dover) is not really a problem for TEN.

Recently... the problems have been that people are having trouble just getting
onto TEN.   This has just arose of the last week.

well I have to agree with you.  The NROS is at the mercy of Sierra, and it's
all up to them to decide if it's time for the NROS to go forward or die,
whatever the consequences it means.

Yes, of course.  That's the standard line.  It's always YOUR ISP.  OK,
then why did that happen when I was using Concentric? (the TEN service
that they charged extra for?  I never used my ISP on TEN after the first
try.  I switched to TEN's) Try to ask them for help.  (chuckle, snork)

TEN has the attitude: "If you don't like it, tough.  Go somewhere
else."  Fine.  I did.  I think they, and their "service," suck.  ***y
shame too.  I loved racing when it worked.  It just doesn't work much.

I was part of a league that raced on Wednesday nights. Invariably, I
wasn't able to get a good connection every wednesday night with my cable
or 56K modem. Both these connection methods used different ISP, so to me
TEN is not the viable option. In one month, on 4 races, I wasn't able to
connect all of the 4 races. To me, this sux... I don't want to pay for
that kind of service. You may like TEN and don't get me wrong, TEN is
magnificient when it works (close competition, mostly no warps, 20+
drivers) but it didn't most of the time for me. It really takes the fun
out of it. Sure, I could have raced on saturday mornings, when nobody
was logged on the net, but no thanks, I don't want to join demolition
derbies such as found in pick-up races... And don't get me started on
the fact that Quebec residents can't participate to NROS... They say it
has to do with the law, but come on.
