Is there any difference in the physics between these 2 mods at all? Is
it just the shapes/sounds that are different?

I think just the body shapes and sound are different. I understand the
physics
model is the same for both.

Why don't we have a discussion here about which mods we like better?
The Pits or PWF?  I personally love the Pits, PWF's is ok, but the car
look boxier, while the tptcc appear to me at least, to be better.  I
really like tptcc and spend the majority of my time playing it.  On
the other hand, PWF has the upper hand with the mods they made.  I
didn't see a truck mod at the Pits.  However, the Pits have taken it
one step further, soon to be released (hopefully) 88 Cup mod and a
Legends mod!  I am looking forward to both.  Both sites and teams have
their plusses and minuses...but both will be around for a long time!

I like all of the PWF stuff and all of the in-house Pits stuff pretty
much equally.

There are some big differences between the mods and I much prefer PWF,
the***pit is miles better than the TPTCC one and overall is just
more polished with better textures and visible damage.

Unfortunately I race in a league that started using TPTCC but now
stubbornly refuses to switch to PWF so I practice with PWF and race
with TPTCC.

Actually, the "more" the more dilution in the race rooms :(
