The Noonan thread: Clarifications and appologies

Ok, first I want to apologize to Dave. I sounded like I was challenging your
ethics an morals. Truthfully, looking back, that is what I wrote. However I
was really hoping maybe you might read it and get a good idea, I had assumed
maybe you hadn't thought of that aspect. Since I didn't know your position,
I didn't have enough information to judge, I came across that way, but did
not mean too. Now that a few folks have informed me of the un precedented
knowledge, time, and energy you put into this product, I understand why your
product is on another level than other community based add-ons, more like
papy's track pack for Nascar 1.

Secondly I want to apologize to r.a.s. for not handling the thread in a
better way. I caught myself up in defending my posts, when it would have
been wiser to ignore wise ass posts that got me off track from my original
points. I allowed others to dictate the thread into a debate on whether or
not I should personally buy the product. I should have instead stated that
this angle is irrelevant, since I no longer own the tracks for which to
convert. Basically I was going along with Dave Henrie's analogy about BC2K,
but somehow that then became the main point of the thread.

So I wasn't ever challenging the value of the converter, or Dave's right to
charge, only trying to gauge it for myself. I'm sorry if other don't agree
with how I gauge, but I don't see how that's relevant? Instead I was just
looking for information for which to form my own opinion. Instead I fell
into the trap of defending my purchasing beliefs. For that I am sorry, since
it wasted a lot of good time we could have been spent discussing sims
instead. I have decided to no longer post on the subject from now on and
will leave any necessary rebuttals via mail.

(On the other hand, if we keep this going, perhaps we can totally avoid  the
GP3 flame wars if we keep this up. :) )

hehe LOL

well you can quite easily ban ***s, making it work is the hard part.
:)

Ok So I'm banning all flame wars on this group from now on! :) Lets see if
it works! :)

I bought the ICR2<>NASCAR2 converter for $15.
I bought the GPL<>NASCAR/ICR2 converter for about $25.

I can't recall ever spending $40 and getting more out of it.

Mr.Noonan has given us a free demo of the converter,
a free oval converter and free Brands Hatch, Ousterreichring
and Imola.

I think he has given us a lot for free.

I also think his converter is a great bargin. If Papyrus sold the
converted tracks as a track pack they would be at least $40.

Just my opinion!

What tracks does this convert?

I like George Carlin's line about prostitution(slightly altered):

"Selling is legal, screwing is legal.  Why is selling screwing *illegal*???"

The arrows point the way...ICR2 tracks to N2/n99 and on to N3.
Included(at least for the TPTCC members) was a previously thought impossible
convertor that moved N2/99 tracks for use with ICR2.
Since N2 had more items in the track.dat file, Papyrus claimed that
converting the new tracks for use with ICR2 was impossible.  Dave Noonan,
proved otherwise.  I "beleive" if he ever updates the convertors, then the
N3 tracks will also get the backwards treatment to ICR2.  But thats just a
guess.
With N4 comming soon, and it's file structure very similar to GPL, those
tracks should be easy to convert...
I would love to see an N4 based Touring Car Patch from the Pits so we
could race the Touring Cars at the Nurburgring and a 24 hour online race at
Spa...hehehehehehehehehahHhhhhHazzzaahhahahahahaaahha(oops sorry!)
so..back to the original question...
ICR2>N2 is the original Noonan convertor...from there some of the tracks can
be moved to GPL (I think!) with Noonan's GPL/N3 convertor.
included with the ICR2>N2 convertor was a separate program that converted
N2/99 tracks to ICR2.  Strange that nobody wants an ICR1 convertor. :>
