Ask around for a fast driver to to the job    ;)

PS. The only way to get there FAST is to attack the Ring.

Like Rudy said, spend some time at the Ring. ;-)

Attacking the ring gets me into a tree, FAST<g>.  I dunno, just something about
that track.  It's an 8+ minute lap, but I can't find the 2 *seconds* that would
get me negative there... :-(

While you're there, could you throw me that bundle of Lotuses I left up
in the branches?   ;)

You can if you're already that close. Then it's just a matter of putting
in the laps and work at it like a pig for days (like I did... ;)

That isn't the main reason they do it - it's a way of moving brake/weight
balance while braking/cornering.

I *have*.  Actually, my 8:23 Ring lap last December 13th is what got me
negative overall...  I think I've only broken 8:30 TWICE since then... :-(

Then go drive it some more, but don't do it in GPL. Get the "rough and
ready" conversion for F12k2/F1C and have at it with the GTR2002 N-GT Ferrari
and Doug Arnao's Spa setup.

Not only will that get you near or under the 8-minute mark in no time
(always good for the ego), the grippier car will also allow you to play with
your line through the corner sequences. It also helps you get used to the
scenery zipping by at an alarming rate.

'cos That's what it's all about at the Ring. Driving a good line and using
all of the track. If you push yourself to the very limit this track will
bite you, so it's a matter of working with it to go as fast as you can at
98%.

Anyhow, trust me, you will begin to see "through" the sections better in
F1C. Along with some setup improvement (care to try some of my current
ones?), it helped me to knock another 6 seconds off my times in GPL.

I haven't loaded *any* mods for it yet.  I had serious problems trying to load
a couple of JB's mods for another game, so I've been leery of mods ever since.
:-(

That's something I still have to work on, but I don't know how.  Looking at the
replay, it's very obvious that I don't use all the track.  But when I'm
driving, it seems like I'm already at the edge.  I think it's a perception
problem, and I've noticed it in all the games I play.  However, I don't have
that problem in real life - I can put my car *exactly* where I want it.  It's
just something wrong in the games... :-(

It won't happen.  You won't be braking with your left foot because you
will need it to work the clutch.  Once that motion is burned in your
sub-conscious, it is hard to shake.  It actually makes it harder to go
the other way, from a manual to an auto.  I have (on more than one
occasion, sadly) completely locked all four wheels in an automatic
because I tried to disengage the non-existant clutch by stomping on
the brake pedal with my left foot.

So the games are to blame, are they   ;)

Perhaps you need to get a bigger monitor, or sit closer to it. I noticed
I'm losing vision and perception if I don't get me nose close enough to
the old tube.

I'm not surprised you can put your car where you want it in real life
though. There, you tend to get excellent 3D (force! ;) feedback and,
most importantly, you've probably never driven your real car to the
very, very limit like we do in GPL et al.  And *that's* when it starts
to get difficult.

Well, the games or my perception thereof.  I'll allow that maybe I'm just not
processing the limited information I get from the creeen efficiently.

I have problems in the games even at slow speed.  I can't run the proper line
and use all the track even in an F3 car.
I *have* driven a Skip Barber car before, and was able to hit the marks fine
with that.  That's probably as close to the limit as I get in GPL.

I recently got a manual transmission car, I've been driving standard for
probably 20 years solid.  Anyway, having been a two footed sim driver I can
say that it took very little time to get comfortable using a clutch again.
The *REAL* problem is that now I really want a three pedal setup for sim
racing  :-(

TSW2mod - Mine has 3 pedals.  I got that one on purpose(more realism?), but I
never got comfortable enough with my driving to deal with the clutch as
well...<g>

Man, that website is making me drool  :-)~  I still have to upgrade my pc to
a decent *** system before I can even begin to think about that kind of
layout of pedals or a controller system.
