Yes, Both IVGA_Winston races run so far have been plagued with yellows,
but don't blame this on quality of drivers. We aren't the best on the
net, no. We aren't the worst on the net either. Just 24 drivers that
signed up. Many of our online mishaps have been created by lost
connections at REALLY BAD MOMENTS, or situations where fast drivers have
made a great effort to follow the rules, but made poor judgement in
doing so. Examples are,
When the pole sitter loses his connection just as the green flag flys a
pileup began. This was probably worse than it should have been.
The "Stay behind ##" message appears just after you cross the
start/finish line. What do you do? Do you obey it and cause a pile up,
or do you go on. If that message remains on the screen when you cross
the start/finish line again, you will be black flagged.
Responsibility lies on the part of everyone on the track to makes sure
incidences don't occur. But until everyone on the track knows the
limitations of the simulator and knows how to react appropriately to the
problems, there will be incidents. We all want to win, and some of us
put aside reasoning too early in the race. It is very difficult to keep
from pushing your car forward a little closer to the car in front of you
on the pace lap because we don't want to lose a spot on the start to the
car behind us. It is within the rules, it just isn't wise to do so.
Rules online will need to be enforced differently. Racing at the drop
of the green flag should only be allow very late in the race. All other
restarts should be "slow, let's all of us get up to speed starts".
Probably about 2 laps. Since the simulator is under full control of
the race, we can't black-flag someone for violating these ground rules.
When NASCAR starts NRL, I wonder how they will handle things.
