Yes I used Starforce cleaner when uninstalling the demo.  Didn't help.

Mines an xfx AGP version...  I have just about had it, with the damn thing,
wish I never got rid of the 4600...  but it does look a little better in
some stuff...

I am running an Athlon 64 with a nForce4 m/b, an Ati x850xt pci-e and an
NEC DVD-+RW.  I own 4 Starforce games and haven't noticed the slightest
issue with any of them.  My old AthlonXP 3200+ and GF4 Ti4600 doesn't have
any problems either.  I have had Daemon Tools and *** 120% (several
versions) installed and neither have caused any problems either.

Is there any hardware in particular that doesn't like Starforce?  Is it
mainly to do with the brand of dvd-rom?

It did a hard reboot on me once but I reduced from 1280x1024 to
1024x768 and no problems at all since.

Having got that far it would be worth sorting out the brake issue. Have
you used it with other ISI sims before? I would see no reson for this to
be different.

Seems your newsreader is giving you hassles too...

Considering how well you post to the usenet Id guess your PC is the real
issue, but go ahead and blame Simbin.  Everyone else does.

I proudly top-post and will forever as I look down at your pitiful
nonsensical ramblings.

Bottom posting is an out-dated relic left over from the days of the BBS.

Just look how you posted your reply..  Uh, what, you cant even find it in
the mess becasuse you dont have the sense to snip...  <rollseyes>

So you are unable to get GTR to run on his rig and you know SF is the real
issue, and you know this how?

Im not surprised you couldnt get it to run coreectly.  It isnt a playstation
so youre going to be in real trouble for a long long time.  But go ahead and
blame someone else for your lack of PC skillz, we understand your type...

I noticed I missed out a few words there, sorry.

SF is the issue because that is what was causing his PC to not be able to
read the disc (the demo worked fine by the way), some optical drives have
big incompatibility issues.  I tried many work arounds, and I'm sure
their were more some of which may have worked.  But he lost patience and
I wasn't going to bust my balls trying for days on end.

I work on an IT Helpdesk for a living for Aberdeenshire Council.  I also
have a HND in Computing. I Have been messing about with computers since I
was 12, I have plenty PC skills (sorry skillz) thanks. Please dont make
assumptions about me when you dont even know me.

Top posting is generally considered to be poor etiqutte on Usenet even
now.

And their is no need to get rude about things.

Just to keep in the spirit of the current thread,

1) I top post because it's easier to read and am not concerned about
perceived poor etiquette on Usenet.  If I don't understand the message, I
scroll down till I have the context.  With bottom posting, I scroll through
a hundred lines of previous comments just to read a "Me too" and have to
scroll up to find out what the comment was about.
2) I also am quite proficient at building and configuring computers and
games to run on them.  Everything I have, from GTR to Battlefield 2 runs
with no problems.  The GTL demo crashes as soon as I try to launch it.  Is
it the Starforce drivers? I don't know.  As I said, GTR runs fine.  Will I
disable or uninstall virus software (or any application for that matter) to
get a demo to run?  Absolutely not.  If a simple fix or a new demo isn't
available by the time GTL is released, I won't buy GTL.  I'm sure someone
will say it's my loss.  Perhaps so, but I won't lose the $50 buying a game
whose demo won't even run.
3) Rant mode off.
