Dave, I applaud you for finding an acronym nearly as over-wrought as
BPTCCWSPBF. ;-)

With coverage moving to Spike, I'm disappointed that Kenny Blankenship and
Vic Romano aren't in the booth...

I have to admit...I'm not very good with this sort of stuff.
Fortunately GOOGLE saved the day.  :)

Took me a-bit to figure that one out JD.

Yes that is a mouthful.

Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered By Ford ? -That was
obvious, I thought. Still working on yours though. I guess it's got to be
related to the Long Beach race, but I can't quite decipher it. Toyota
something?

Agreed, but at least there is a BPTCCWSPBF.

While we're on the subject, has anyone subscribed to that Race Director
thingy on the site or knows whether it allows for one to view the races
similar to Speed on Demand last year?

Could be Tony George Certainly Kicked Me in the Balls, but knowing Dave,
it's more likely Tony George Can Kiss My Butt. ;-)

I had the free demo yesterday but had to leave almost as soon as the
race started.  But as far as I can tell, it only allows for LIVE viewing.
I didn't have a-lot of experience time with it...Basically it broadcast the
live HD cast and then allowed you to toggle between 5 other incar cams.
You could also hear the driver/pit radios from a big list of drivers, I
don't know if that was all the teams, but the problem there was the video
was on about a 5 second delay.
I was watching the main channel and listening to AJ Almendinger.  He
got the word yellow for the first lap waveoff long before the video had the
field even approaching the s/f line.  And when they had the firstturn
prang, AJ was yelling 'he hit me!' about the time everyone was smoothly
taking the green flag.
Such is my life, that I am almost ignored except when I'm tyring to
multi-task.  :)  Then I can't be left alone.  So tape delay it is for me.

Yup, live only... which, seeing as most of the time I'm not in a position to
watch it live, is of very limited use to me.

So silly for the organisers and the sponsors not to make the racecasts
available (for a fee if need be). Ok, bandwidth charges, but still that's
got to be a heck of a lot cheaper than actual airtime. Could be real
benificial.

Silly example, possibly, but it used to be possible to watch the raw streams
the NASCAR Race Recaps on Track Pass were pulled together from. Basically a
TiVo recording of the race broadcasts (including adds), no official links on
the site, but the info was somehow leaked and then spread among fans. This
went on for two seasons and I'm sure a lot of people watched them, so if not
NASCAR, then Time Warner/AOL must have known it was going on. The source
seems to have dried up now, but not only did that allow for overseas fans to
watch the races, all the sponsors got extra exposure too. Obivously, some
sponsors are not active over here, but a lot of them are. Tropicana, title
sponsor of the Tropicana400 at Chicagoland, for example. This brand has
recently come on the market here and, before the local add campaign had even
started, I found myself buying a carton just out of curiosity and, having
liked it, I've since switched to that brand of orange juice.

That's exactly what any company hopes for when they sponsor an event/race
series, so, IMO, it behooves<sp?> the organising body to get as much
exposure for them as they possibly can.

I don't know where your mind just went there, but I'm pretty sure I don't
want to know... <g>
