I just began working for Papy this past week on N3. I have not yet seen a
specific date within the office, which is to be expected at this time. About
all I can say is "we are working on it". Anything else will have to come
from "higher-ups".

What has anyone heard lately about the release date for Nascar 3?

Everybody drink in every word Tim said - if he does truly work for Papy,
this is the last time we'll see a message from him in this newsgroup.

Oh, I promise you that you probably will continue to hear from me, but not
very often on the N3 issue. That is an issue that I just dont have the right
to talk about.

Take care, happy holidays

Can you at least tell us if N3 will be released early because of Y2K?

Why should this be an issue?  Are you afraid you'll confuse your
2001 Winston Cup car set with your 1901 Winston Cup car set?<g>

The latest news that I have heard was that there will be a NASCAR 1999
(already released) and a NASCAR 2000, then they will release NASCAR 3.  The
NR1999 and NR2000 just contain updates to N2.  The full version of N3 is
when all the changes come into effect.

Well, not actually.  My concern is that more pressing IT projects will
take triage to coding sims, like the dying year 2000 conversion projects
going on at the FAA and the IRS right now.

It looks like we will need all able-bodied techies to divert themselves
from non-essential work and pool their resources and experience into
projects that will kill most of us, if not completed by the
non-negotiable deadline of 010100 - either voluntary or by conscription.

If history repeats itself, it will be the latter.

This is why I will not give it up, Eric.

There is no such thing as a realistic deadline in software projects.
010100 _can't_ be moved, nor do millions of entities have the arrogant
luxury of implementing the 'When it's done' mantra to their Y2K
conversions.

When you sit suffering from freezing cold in your darkend apartment
post-glitch wondering when you will get heat, food, clean water, law and
order, and electricity, remember 'When it's done'.

Rick, do you just scan this NG for N3/N2000 posts to lead off subject?
We've been warned.  Thank you.  Now please, sit down.

The way I understand it is Nascar 2000 will in effect be N3. I have not
heard anything about them doing any more updates to N2.
