Really?  When? Who? Any proof?

Until there is proof, you are also wrong.

The conflicting stories about Sir Stewart's hallowed opinion of the absolute
deliciousness of GPL merely point out that:

1) With JS's life and connections, with track-time in almost any car he
likes a finger-snap away, is a computer game going to make a blip on his
radar?
2) He's probably not going to sit down and try GPL and make an ass of
himself, even if it is right in front of him
3) The wee Scot may occasionally enjoy some of his country's famous
distilled beverages at any social occasion where he is cornered for an
opinion

I see Ymenard allready explains very cleary what the situation of this
discussion was, and it was not like you state above. But ofcourse you
know that so I won't bother with this one.

That was indeed a very usefull post, what RAS is meant for. I hope to
see more posts like that from you instead of all those
bandwidth-wasting rubbish posts.

Wow.

Here is your post (I can waste time searching google just like you can).
You say Stewart never could of made the GPL/realism comments because "to
settle this for once and for all, Stewart has never heard of
GPL." Jon Crooke replied to the post below that Stewart had seen GPL because
Crooke showed it to him. You were WRONG. Did you and ymenard get drunk
together tonight or something?

There was a rumour that Stewart once stated he didn't find GPL
realistic, that the cars were much easier to drive in real life..
This 'statement' is quite often being used when it comes to the
realism of GPL.
Well.. to settle this for once and for all, Stewart has never heard of
GPL. Quote from the GPLEA forum:

  posted 14-10-2001 20:28
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
While attending the 100 years of Ford Racing event today at the nearby
Henry Ford Museum, I had a chance to shake hands and chat very briefly
with Dan Gurney and Jackie Stewart.
Both men were extremely kind. I was struck by how narrow Stewart's
eyes were and how big Gurney's hand was when I shook it.

After telling each of them how much their careers had inspired me, I
asked each if he knew about GPL. Gurney said he had heard it was "very
realistic" but had never seen or played it. Stewart said he had never
even heard of it.

When I told Stewart it was a recreation of the 1967 season, he sighed
and said "I would be very easy to beat in my BRM." He went on to
describe the H-16 as a "pregnant elephant."

By the way, among the 100 race cars on exhibit, there was not a single
Lotus 49.

Man, somethimes I get so tired from you :(
But ok, here goes.

A guy on Legends Central met Jackie Stewart, he asked JS about GPL and
Stewart said he never heard about GPL. Then I made my post here on
RAS. As soon as someone else replied on LC that JS had played GPL,
- I was the one -
who immediately replied here with the thread pointing that out.
See the post below.

As Ymenard points out, this is not a case of you were right and I was
wrong since it's still unclear if Stewart made that statement.

Thank you, goodbye and thanks for the fish.

You could mail the guy who wrote the post for more info if you want

Anyway, to be honest, this post was also quite interesting:

"Stewart does know about GPL. He asked too much for his name to be
involved and wasn't included. Since then he has varied between saying
it is no good or claiming he has never heard of it. He has not been
paid and so has no intention of promoting GPL."

Who cares, there is no doubt GPL is the most realistic open wheel sim, but
it is widely known there are some faults with the tyre model especially at
low speed and it is allot harder to drive than it should be. N4 (another sim
you have a pathological hatred of) has an updated tyre model that is more
realistic and has had lots of positive quotes about it's realism from
Winston Cup drivers. But were talking about games run on home computers here
nothing in the near future is ever going to be truly realistic.

Wrong. I've said a hundred times GPL is an excellent sim. I also said N4 is
an excellent sim, if you can stomach NASCAR.

Oh I see.

Making a big, definitive statement that's wrong doesn't count as being wrong
if you were only wrong for a little while before you admitted you were
wrong.

I hope you have a headache after reading that too.
