Hells bells!
Dave has made those anti-curb-riding posts out of high tensile steel!!

David....they were actually *** hose-pipe that was poked into a hole in
the curb.  Whilst certainly warding off any curb-riding tendencies they
wouldn't have ripped out suspensions! :-)

However....in GPL they certainly serve their purpose very well indeed.

Hehe.........I was also expecting *** poles like those in SCGT, I son
found out they were made of something more substantial when I ended up a
couple of wheels short.

I'm still in doubt whether these "***" poles are better, or worse than
the tyres of Mexico. I think these are worse, as with a tyre, when you
*juuuuust* slightly brush it, the car doesn't get that much upset (if you
have enough rideheight). But these poles, you're immediately buried in
them.

By the way, I do not know of an example of the original tracks were these
kinds of "semi-***" poles were used, so I find it pretty unique that
they are on an add-on track. You would say that Dave was not able to add
anything to the original game code, so this "script" (reaction, sound) was
somewhere already.

One thing I noticed between these tracks is that at Mexico, you can't
really see the tires till you are right there.  Where as O-Ring, you can
see these poles well in the distance and can adjust your self to miss
them. :)

The tires at Mexico are tied to the detail slider.  Set the
slider to minimum detail and the tires don't show up until
you're on top of them.  Set the slider to maximum detail
and you see the tires a long ways off.  I set the detail
slider up several notches for this very reason when I race
at Mexico.

Actually I believe the posts at the ?sterreichring in the 70s were made
by good, solid wood, and not those wimpy little ***/plastic things
they use nowadays :-) Not something you want to hit :-)

Huh?  what do you mean, Michael?  I've never had a problem being able to see
those things from miles away.

Ouch!!
Okay....I guess that not all circuits where these things were used were as
wimpy as some others then! :-)  Thanks Arne. (How's the Honda coming along?)
