GPLDUMP v0.7.2 RELEASED!

by Juha Kallioin » Mon, 19 Jul 1999 04:00:00

Hi speed maniacs!

If you find a bug in GPLDump, please report it to me by mail.
This version has quite a lot of changes and it's getting harder
and harder to get all the bugs out (or even to find them) :-)

WHAT IS IT?

GPLDump is a Windows utility, which can be used to extract all
kinds of information from a GPL replay file. This info can then be
viewed on a chart and compared to another replay file.

You can get the latest version at:

 http://www.racesimcentral.net/~kaltsi/

WHAT's NEW?

 0.7.2 (18-Jul-1999):
+ Fixed some bugs from the multiplayer support part.
+ Added a crude track display to the telemetry window.
(Many thanks to Phil Flack for the .trk decoding code!)
   - The track map shows what section of the track is currently
     shown in the telemetry window.
   - Map can be an integral part of the telemetry window or it can
     be in its own window.
+ Added a Split Time utility, which allows you to set six
split time positions on that track display and save them.
+ Added a Preferences window to Main window's menu (File/Preferences).

That's it.. have fun!

Works perfect for me, the track addition is a  very big help (esp. on
Nurnburg :)

Thanks,

Andre.

Excellent work, Juha; the track map and user-setable splits are great
additions.  The map had been so useful back in GP2's telemetry that I'd
wondered if it were possible to add a map in GPL.  Guess I know now.  Many
thanks for the effort!

This application is great.  However, I'd like to be able to trace the
track map with the cursor and see the values where the cursor is.. I
don't remember who wrote it, but, the Telemetry application used for
NASCAR Racing 2 (telemetry app.) is a good example of whet I'm after.
As it stands now,  I can only guess that my top speed is X mph on the
front strait.  I can't tell where on the strait I reached that speed.
Unless I'm missing something(?)

Great start on the application though. :-)

Right now the track map is very coarse as you may have noticed.
It only has a certain number of lines in it (each track consists
of many sections.. for example Mosport is something like 74 sections
and Nurburgring is 849 sections). That's in fact now the number of
different locations where you can have a split time check point
set too.

This way the map is quite quick to draw on screen.

What you are after of course requires a more accurate map, maybe
it will be there some day :-)

Thanks :-)

BTW, do you really need that long signature and vcard info on
every mail you post here? ;-)

It's not quite what you're after, but the raw numbers are displayed at the
bottom of the window as you move your cursor across the displayed portion of
the replay.  It's pretty easy to determine speed this way, but I didn't see it
at first either!  Great program; slow in really IS fast out after all! :-)

Hello Juha,

Yeah, you have done a great job !!!

But only one thing is missing:
The position of the car on the track, like
- I think it was called - TLMetric from Nascar
showed.
(But I am not shure if that is possible with the
GPL replay file)

Bye,

Herbert

AFAIR there is a "lateral" option.
