I my seeming never-ending quest to go "negative", I'm currently
concentrating on Zandvoort, where I've yet to beat the Papy benchmark
time.

I just don't seem to "get" this track.  GPLReplayAnalyser will tell me
where I'm slow, but I don't seem to be able to do anything about it.

Frustration is beginning to reach Eldred-esque levels......

Would some kind souls please look at my PB (1:27.43) replay? You can
download it from:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

(I also have a Rouen PB replay up there that you can be rude about
too....Both files are <150kB)

Many thanks for any assistance!

Hi!

Visited your hp and wondered why you are still positive with a 1:58 at SPA
????
Just kidding!
As for Zandvoort: Rhythm is everything. Slow into corners, fast out of
corners. Use the track.

Regards
Crash

Your Zandy time isn't bad at all, it's your Ring time that's letting you
down.

Hmm..I feel some website editing coming on......

I seem to have a choice at the moment:

1) Slow into corners.  Slow out of corners.
2) Slow into corners.  Fast out of first bit of corner.  Visit
scenery.
3) Fast into corner.  Visit scenery

I do try and use the track.  I find it gives much better laptimes than
the alternative.

:-)

Yeh - but thanks to the "challenges" of a near hyperactive one-year
old, the time required for a serious *** on the 'ring is rarely
found.

Zandy's a lot shorter :-)

I also figure that getting better at these "flowing corner" circuits
will be no bad thing for the 'ring.  I'm also slower than the Papy
benchmark at Mosport...

Easy :-)

I have a reasonable amount of time - but generally in 20-30 minute
bursts.

Enough time to do a few good laps at the shorter tracks - but barely
enough to post a valid laptime at the 'ring.

Besides - evryone should drive the BRM once in a while.  It's good for
you!

I used to suck like a hoover at Zandy. Hated it. Was stuck in the low
1.30's until I started looking at the LOR track guides
http://www.gmmhost.co.uk/gmmhost/legendscentral/LOR/trackguides/gpl/i...
They have VERY good ferrari setups (balanced, no funny rear end steer)
and replays. Stick it into replay analyser and look at the replay. The
interesting thing I found is that the guy on the replay uses 4th gear
for almost the whole last 3/4 of the lap. More torque, less wheelspin,
more control. I now have a PB of 1.26.49.

Likewise for silverstone. I think you should have a look at mexico too.
(just checked out your rank :) )

Take a look at those guides.

<my Zany woes snipped>

Thanks for the link.  I remeber seeing this a while ago - but had
forgotten all about it.

I do stick in 4th at the moment - from Hunzerug to the last corner
(Pulleveld) where I drop down to 3rd.

Yeah - I suck at Mexico too :-)

Thanks for the info!

1) If u visit the scenery on the outside of the turn u have a classic case
of understeer
solution
front:
soften shocks and/or roll bar and/or increase neg toe
rear:
reverse of front
2) If u visit the scenery on the inside of the turn u have a classic case of
oversteer
solution
reverse of 1)

also if u get excessive wheel spin check clutches

don't say all this could help 'cause setups/drivin' style is a personal
thing but IMHO it may help
