N4 won't start

I loaded Nascar4 on my dual boot Win98/Win2000 machine.

On W98, when you click the icon, you hear the CD spin up, then the hourglass
goes away, but nothing appears.

I've looked for a log file to see if I can figure out why it is not starting
but I can't locate any such file.

I did load the DX8 provided with the CD.

Any ideas? (I then loaded it on the Win2000 partition, and received the same
results)

It could be the problem with the copy protection feature on the cd, the papy
forum has some fixes.  Check there.

For the 500,000th time-- it's a problem with the CD copy-protection scheme
Sierra employs.  Try disabling your joystick port; and if the game works,
then welcome to the club.

You might try updating your soundcard drivers.  If all else fails-- besides
a few expletives to the folks at Sierra-- try getting a No-CD crack.  This
will allow you to play the game but you won't be able to log into the WON
servers.  Nothing but a bunch of wreck freaks there anyhow, so there's your
silver lining, which Sierra pockets.

I had the same thing happen, when I rebooted the machine it all
started working.
