When you're driving in GPL, yes it is letterboxed, or matted
widescreen.  What I would like to see is full use of a widescreen
monitor, that is 16:9 aspect ratio screen resolution without the black
borders.

GM

: Isn't GPL letterboxed as well (16:9)?  It makes sense that this would
: maintain the same aspect if it's using the same code.  Just a thought, I'm
: hardly an expert ;-).

You know what i just thought of.
N4 might just turn into GPL for online caos all the time cars fliping every
where.
Crazy thoughts I think.

Looks good, but note that there is no word on hardware requirements and
release date yet.   Here's to hoping that my 600 MHz Athalon and 16 MB
Stealth III Graphics Card are able to handle the workload.  Online racing
will be a *** on the 56K modem as it is.

I'll be waiting to see the official release to see if I can replace the
existing N3.  If not, I'll still have N3, hey?

I can almost bet your video card will not handle it.

Lee

PS: I get my 1000 Mhz (1 Ghz) computer tomorrow and it is fully
loaded.  Got the Dell with the 64 MB Geforce video card.  Let's hope
that will run it.

No, that at least shouldn't be a problem.  But get ready for the
Letterbox treatment of GPL to make it's way into Nascar.  Your screen
will be 1024x768 but the viewable area will probably be that 800x450
scale.
Just, as usual, guess tho
What you may need is one very serious cpu upgrade tho if you expect to
run full fields and show a lot of visual graphics.

The problem is: Do you really want to play your sim on the TV ? I have
a 32" Sony Widescreen, and although it is super for DVD-movies,
wouldn't a sim be too pixelated. Maybe FSAA would do wonders...

A anamorphic 16:9 mode would be great though.

It's an Intel.  Go here:
http://www.dell.com/us/en/dhs/topics/segtopic_1GHz.htm

That's the one I got....you can see the price there.  Also, I did some
upgrades so it was a little more pricey than that. (21" monitor)

I've got the exact same system (21" Trinitron, 64MB Geforce, etc), but I went
with the P3-866 and saved about $1000.  Thought I might try overclocking it to a
Ghz, but the pro overclockers have advised me against it.  Pretty darn fast.
We'll see if by November the GForce DDR can still perform as well with N4.  Right

That was easy to convince you!

What if I told you jumping from the 20th floor gives an incredible feeling?

(I'm not telling you that BTW!)
