SCGT-Pit Stops

by Paul Jage » Mon, 24 May 1999 04:00:00

SCGT is the first game that has fired me up enough to want to race for
longer than a few laps. But I am not sure how many pitstops I should make
during, for example 1/2hr race on 4x tire/fuel wire. Should the fuel tank be
near zero before pit stopping, and how do I know when my tires are low on
tread?
During 1/2hr race  I stop twice - does that sound about right?
Any pitstop strategies greatly appreciated.

The "U" button will give you your tire tread info in percentage remaining.
I mapped it to a button on my LWFF.

well the near zero is ok but it depends on course if you can go round
another time. in vegas when the low fuel warning comes out you still
have 2 rounds or even 3 left (with fuel and tire wear on 3x) but at
sebring even one round after the low fuel warning is ***. i had
that once sittin there on the final straight with no fuel anymore.
considering your tire wear there is an tires worn message like the low
fuel warning and there is even a key for regarding the tires worn rate
in percent. i think it was U, tough i never use it my tires always
hold to the next pitstop.

Hmm, I guess I'm not driving aggressively enough.  I always run out of fuel
before I run out of tires...  I haven't had to pit for 'just' tires yet...
