Good question -- I've never noticed a degradation of performance over time.
My guess is they went with short races (>20 laps) to effectively avoid the
tire wear issue.

good point.  I have them both and like SCGT much better.  Especially the car
selection and race lengths.  Also it is nice to have some real tracks.  I
liked the visual damage of Viper Racing though.
