The following (unbelievable) setting did the trick for me. I've got GP4
installed on a XP pro machine but the game performance was very very bad.
When I changed the advanced speaker setting: conversion quality of
samplefrequency in XP from best to good the game plays outstanding!

Wow  that worked for me!! What a difference that makes. I bet this can solve
a lot of the problems with slow gameplay that people seem to have

Where do you get that info from? I just checked out 2 boxes. One with an SB
Live and one with integrated sound. Both were set to "best" and I know for
sure noone's been into those settings (one of the boxes is my girlfriend's
and she wouldn't have the first clue on how to even get close to it).

Could be the soundcard drivers auto-set that option, aye. It does seem a bit
odd to me though. Either way, both my test subjects were running the default
XP drivers for the soundcard so what you're saying makes sense from that
point of view.
