Laggy Steering

Hi I've noticed my steering input is laggy in gpl(ie I turn the wheel and
it takes a few split seconds for the wheel on the screen to turn), which
progressively gets worse with the more graphics options I run even though I

can't get the full 36fps everywhere which basically renders these tracks
undrivable.  Anyone know why this would be?  I'm sure it's got something to
do with how graphics intensive the track/car etc is...though I don't know
what the relationship is exactely.  My bandaid solution to the problem so
far is to underuse the graphics options which seems to work ok...though
it's frustrating not being able to use more graphic options knowing I can
get 36fps with the extra graphics on

My system specs are 850cel 192m ram with 32m tnt2 pci card, and my wheel is
a usb ms non ff, I tried running the mem speed at 133mhz but it didn't make
a difference.  I don't recall having this problem when I drove with a
joystick through the gameport connection so I'm wondering if the usb port
has anything to do with it? and if so is it possible to get a usb to
gameport converter and plug my wheel in through the gameport?

In the core.ini file you can adjust something like force feedback
latency under the [JOY] caption. It regulates like 'reaction times' on
your steering wheel. I guess in modern systems it can be set to small
values. Mine is set to 0.00025 or something. Maybe you could try that
out. But before you try anything first get the v1.2 patch, it did
wonders for my MS FF steer...
