I'm sorry if this has already been discussed here.
I have a PC with 8mb and Windows 95 installed without DOS.

I cannot free up enough memory to get 600K for a DOS session
and hence cannot run the game which gives an OUT OF MEMORY error.

I cannot create a boot disk as recommended in the manual. This mentions such things as EMM386
and HIMEM.Sys etc which are not on my machine.

If this has been solved then could someone please forward the solution.

I got the CD for Christmas and four weeks on I am no further down the line!

If you don't have a config.sys or autoexec.bat file, then you need to make a
shortcut to the gp.exe on your desktop, right click the icon, click properties, and
go to the memory tab. There you need to change the conventional memory from "auto"
to "600k". This worked for me. Let me know if it doesn't work, and I'll recommend
other stuff, but usually, this works. (provided you haven't used drivespace....but
that's another long subject!)

Hi Tony,
         Go to start-menu>settings>taskbar>start menu programs tab, then
hit the advanced button and you can then see a listing of your menu items.
Go thru them until you find the menu item which you use to start f1gp and
click on it once to highlight it. Right click with the mouse and a menu will
come up beside it, go to property's on that menu. Go to the memory tab and
set the conventional memory amount from auto to now show 600K.
 This is what I did and it works fine for me, good luck

You should be able to run it from Windows 95 if you toggle memory
protected in the properties section of the short-cut. I have mine set
to Auto for all the memory choices ... ie conventional,extended etc

If you are using WCLaunch v5.0, then it will not work in Win95.  However,
WCLaunch v6.0 will work in Win95.  V6 should be out by the weeks end.
