More fun on Hawaii

This is from late Sunday night/early Monday morning

A few of us IGNners hook up with some other racers and run a pleasant
drive at Michigan.  After that we took to more races at Martinsville,
then N.Wilkesboro, then Richmond,then Dover.

We nominated a new race after Dover, this time for Loudon.  We're
having a ball at these tracks that I for one have spent little or no
time on before.  We're waiting for people to finish up a race at
Talladega and perhaps they would join us at Loudon.

The race at Talley finished up, people start leaving, and apparently
someone from that race nominated another one for that group.

At Talladega.

How many times can ya run that one track?  I think (this is all in
good clean fun of course) that there are people out there who are
afraid to go to a track where they might have to apply brakes.

Well you know, the new racers figure that Tally is going to be the
easiest track to run...  Actually I find that the short tracks are
better.  The people who join you on the short tracks tend to be a
little more cautious, because that's what a short track requires.  As
a matter of fact I think I raced you at Martinsville last night. Of
course that was a mess at the beginning, but once we got spread out
and got in a groove, there weren't any problems.  Talladega is just
too unreal for me.  I don't like the line that the people run on that
track.  Besides when you wreck on a short track, you're still in the
race,  At tally chances are if you wreck you're done for the day....

Alan,

Somethimng tells me that the first time one of the `Dega guys***up
on a short track, all the short track guys will be yelling for him to
get off the track and stay off....

This may be the case, but I'm willing to put up with a little driver
error caused by someone still getting acclimated to the shorter
tracks, assuming it's not intentional of course.

The good part of this is that on the short tracks, you have to try
pretty hard to get in a 'fatal' accident, while at Dega, you hardly
have to do anything at all.

The real hot setup would be for many Hawaii drivers, if they aren't
doing so already, to sign up for a league, either a typical Internet
league like IGN or Simcar, or a league on Hawaii.  Having exposure to
a lot of different tracks can't help but make a person a better racer.
I don't think I'd ever try Phoenix or Wilkesboro if they weren't on my
series schedules.

However, the dimwits that always cause wrecks and get impatient and
decide if they can't win they might as well wreck everyone else can
just as well stay at Dega and I won't have a problem with that.  Of
course, those people probably don't read rec.autos.sims so they'll
never see this.

Ah, well.
