the following are my comment about f1 after playing it for one night:
d3d version looks awful compared to the 3dfx
the graphic resolution on 3dfx makes the playstation look pathetic
wet weather looks amazing
runs ok on a p166 32mb 3dfx settings either high or max not ninja
game settings are not remembered after quitting, this is really annoying,
also the game often crashes on quitting
analogue joystick is to sensitive at full throttle
don't like using the hood view i prefer the next view from behind the car
tracks are amazing and make gp2 look awful, even when u take into account
the changes made for safety gp2 tracks are far to flat and outdated
why can't i be competitive on tracks that i know?, this seems to be down to
braking distances, they just seem to be wrong(f1), i mean brake coming into
the corner not in the middle
the cars don't seem to be fast enough, i know speed was reduced in the 1995
season but surely not to snail pace, i can't seem even on minimum downforce
to get above 180mph
when damage is on its difficult to damage a car
what is best f1 or gp2, well neither, f1 has wet weather and superb track
detail with bumps and camber, gp2 is the much better sim but after playing
f1 u will c that the tracks are just so very wrong in every way, so which
one plays better?, well i would go for f1, from what i c the game would
play well on a p133 with a 3dfx card, gp2 only starts to play decently on a
p166 in vga with a mirror detail still switched off and runs well on a p200
classic.
neither of these sims are the last word for a grand prix simulator/game,
will ubisoft f1 with the pod engine go someway towards correcting the
situation?
