If the rumours from a FIDO-Message is true (the source looked reliable to
me, Microprose is gonna cancel the weather changes during the race. They
said, it would take too long to implement this feature.

If this is true, I'm gonna throw up (Sorry!).

Bye, Berny

1) It's true - confirmed. Check Sim Racing News at the URL below

2) How many races did you run in wet weather in F1GP? Not many....

It's disappointing, but not such a big deal. If we want it, we can put
pressure for that in the much publicised "update" for later this year.
You choose, weather, track editor, car painter or network play....?

Hmmmm, I think "weather" may be last...!!

Cheers!
John

Not sure that I agree with you there John. If it was to be dynamic
weather (i.e. starting to rain during the race, dry lines developing
when it stops, etc) I would put it way above the other features.

Many of the best F1 races are where the weather plays a part - adds an
extra element to the strategy and tends to lessen some of the power
differentials. I'ld also love to try starting a race in all that spray
<g>

Of course, if weather simply meant grey skys & less traction (as in
F1GP) then it's pretty pointless.

I know that the actual game hasn't been released yet.. ..but
here is my list of preferences.. :)

        1) Network play (IPX + maybe TCP/IP)
        2) Season 96 (or 97) update  (drivers, the car models, etc.)
        3) Weather changes (also during the races)

If those are added I would gladly pay extra $30 for the update
        CD-ROM..

Does this mean no weather at all, or will we get a varying grey screen for rain
again? No wet races would be a nightmare and lose some of the accuracy and
appeal of the simulation.

I choose network play, car painter, weather, and lastly track editor.
It's trouble enough to have to master 16 tracks or so. Never mind mastering
my own fantasy tracks.

Without any wish to retstart the Sim or Game thread (I will anyway
probably :-), doesn't this come down to whether you want to drive
F1 without the millions of dollars and risk, or whether you want to
play a good game with good graphics and options to make it better
for your style?

For me there is no question that simulating real driving conditions
should come before making Forti cars the right colour for their sponsor
of the week.

Hi John,

My viewer doesnt support frames (and I cannot get one that does for
the moment), and I cant aceess June GP2 sim racing news by FTP
either. I cant have access by logging as an anonymous user.

Can you rectify that so I can login by FTP and  read the GP2 June
news?

Thanks,

  Miguel

I would say car painter last. I don't see much point of painting the car and
the helmet. Weather and update is a must, same as modem link play.

Hi,

The menu page doesn't require frames, and you can download the whole
issue by FTP from there - just click on the FTP link. It won't look as
nice as with frames (you'll need to load up each HTML file separately),
but it'll work!

The address is in my .sig

Cheers!
John

Why don't you go download Netscape 3.0 or Internet Explorer? They are free.

John, I also have a browser that does not support frames. Would love to download
via ftp, but the link does not work.

In answer to another's post to this same thread:

For some people Windows software is not an option. *Everyone* in the world does
not use Microsoft operating???? systems.

Thanks in advance John, for your consideration (hopefully) for us poor misguided
souls. :)
