Using PK Arnall v.3.1 96 carset with foreign GP2

I downloaded the latest 96 carset for GP2 from Pieter's GP2 page
http://www.racesimcentral.net/'s stated that it only works
with the English version.

I'm using the French version but the only part of the patch that doesn't
work is (as far as I know) GP2CCPE used for the car performance update.

So what I did is modify GP2CCPE to have the correct location for the cars
performance in my version.

Using an hex editor I change all (3) occurances of EC77 in Hex (It's the
location of the start of the performance data in the English version:
0x77EC word inverted, Intel format) for 1C78 (PD starts at 0x781C in the
French version)

The address for all version are:
                - English: 77EC
                - German : 785C (From a mail from WODAN)
                - French : 781C
                - Spanish: 7840
                - Dutch  : 781C (Same as French)
                - Italian: 7820

I then copied all the file for the 96 update, copied my french version
of GP2CCPE in GP2\GAMEJAMS and typed 96.

Back in GP2, after loading the necessary setup file (in the CARSET96
directory), everything seems to work fine. Both Williams usually
get the first line and there is correct colors for cars helmets and
***pits :-).

Make sure you keep a backup of your actual GP2.EXE, you never knows.

I hope the author of GP2CCP2 will patch is version so that it works will
all versions, adding a version flag or something.

Enjoy the 96 season and the soon to start 97 season :-).

Hey claude !!

use the patch NOCDROM.ZIP which makes 2 things:

                 1. You can use GP2 without having the CDROM inside

                 2. It patches your version into "GB / US-Version"

which will determine you problems.

Good bye
