Given that Gp2 no longer exists as a commercial product can anyone now make
copies and give it away freely ?

Yes, but it wouldn't be legal. Even though the product can not be sold,
the copyrights still exist and are still legally binding. Doing it now
that it can't be sold due to the F1 license expiring is no different
than doing it when the license was valid. However, if anyone can
convince Microprose and Geoff Crammond to release it to public domain....

Who would want it.
I have a copy that I'll never put on my system again. It's a peice of shit.
Someone pay the shipping and I'll give it away.

I'm also wondering about the rumor regarding GP2's sale. I was
worried since I'd ordered a copy from MicroProse's site on Jan 8, but
hadn't recieved it last week and they said they were out of stock but
would mail it when it came back in.. When I got home yesterday, it
was waiting on my doorstep. Needless to say, the rest of the
afternoon plans were thrown in the trash. :-D

Just kiding, obviously there would be far too many problems to over come. But
you gotta know they batted that idea around.

I think this stuff about pulling a product from the shelves is nonsense. I am no legal expert, but
MPS would have been damn silly to sign a contract that limits the time they may legally sell
something. and for what its worth, the CompUSA here in town has plenty of GP2's on the shelf for
$29.95 (us$) Egghead too.
