rec.autos.simulators

Updated to 1.72e and installed GTP patch...runs up until I try to start a race
and then crashed to desk top...any suggetsions?  (Do not have Zippy patch?)

  Which track are you trying to load?  Try one of the defaults first...like
Watkins or Sears  so you know the mod is working right...

  almost forgot...two important things.
first when the game crashes it should generate a huge error report.  about
3/4ths of the way down will be a line that says...
panic!  could not....(something like too many wheels or could not load
track...)  that can sometimes point out the problem.
 2nd.  Did you install Heat on your boot drive?  Heat is very picky about
where you put it.  So to save yourself lots of grief, let it use it's
default paths.  C:\program files\hasbro interactive\nascar heat\    This is
crucial.

I had crash problems with it as well. I ran the Glen first and that was fine
(practice only). Then it crashed when I tried Daytona. I had the 1.72 patch
as well as no cd super patch. I might delete it all and try again with out
the latest patch.

Installation is default everything...other mods run fine...trying to run
Atlanta oval default track...still using the CD..error report said it can't
find lots of stuff...(too much to list..)..when I installed I just let the
installer create the directory...will try a reinstall later tonite...any other
idea's appreciated...

  Don't worry about all that stuff it can't find...that is not the
problem...look fairly far down the list for a line that starts with:

Panic.......  and read ONLY that line..  :)

IIRC mine was something about the pace car.

   Well GTP Heat does redraw the pacecar from a Winston Cupper to a C5
Corvette.  I would guess then that the pace.car file is not being properly
installed.
  I'll doublecheck my install and see where CED hides that.

that was mine too...i tried a reinstall and still no luck...there is a pace car
file in the main imsa directory...
