So what video card would be best for N4, a Geforce2 or a Voodoo5?

Except for a few members of the Papyrus team, I don't think anyone
knows.  You also should consider ATI's Radeon and Matrox's latest.
ANY DECICISION ABOUT A VID CARD FOR N4 SHOULD NOT BE MADE TIL MUCH LATER
IN THE YEAR!  I wouldn't think it wise to buy a product now for a sim
that isnt' due out for 6 months yet.

I think that remains to be seen, since we don't know how well the GPL
engine is going to take to it's Direct 3D conversion.

I have a Voodoo2 and a TnT2, so I've experimented with Glide and
OpenGL. Other than the flaky mirror issue, the OpenGL version looks
nice, but I was getting an average of 7-10fps less using it.
D3D is going to be VERY important to this sim, especially since it'll
already have the high overhead of large fields of cars compared to
GPL.

Don't start buying hardware yet. Six months can be an eternity in
computer time. I wouldn't even count on seeing N4 by then, since
companies seldom meet their projected release dates.

Like the above posts say, it's good advice to wait, but if you need a card
now then both the GeForce2 GTS and the V5 will both be excellent cards for
N4.  The GeForce 2 GTS looks to be just the faster of the two cards, and N4
is supposed to be supporting Hardware T&L (which the GF2 supports), so if
you don't play GPL, that should be the card for you.

Hello...

I know one flight simulator that plainly converted Glide to Direct 3D.
It's Jane's F/A-18. It performes better on Voodoo 3 other than nVidia
cards or Matroxs G400.  So I'm expecting Voodoo 5 or maybe Voodoo 6
with T&L engine will be suit for NASCAR Racing 4.

Though,

I agree with you. Even after release of N4, it's not too late to make
decision after due consideration.
