Well you know how we're fanatic with the Canadiens Hockey Club, especially
us Frenchies :)

Well then I suppose that you know what the big CH symbol on the ice stands
for.

Well if an American team has to win, I'd prefer a skilled team like the
Wings or the Avs to some boring defensive team like the Panthers or the
Devils.

So: Go Wings!

Well knowing that for us French in Qubec is like an American knowing his
national anthem ;)

It's actually CHC, not CH.  There is two C's superposed together in
different colours, meaning "Le Club de Hockey Canadien".    The fable about
the "H" meaning "Habs" started in the 20's when a reported falsely informed
that it stood for "Habitant", which is a french word for the farmers and
rural people of Qubec.  Back then, the players of the Canadiens were mostly
French people from outside of Montreal, while the Montreal Maroons were the
team with English players from Montreal.  So the French would shout "Go Habs
Go!" and it's now still used!

I was actually looking for the old (anglo) joke, "Centre Hice".     ;o)

Sorry about that.  I actually should know better at my age.

Knew everything you said except the part about how they got to be called
"Les Habs".
Thanks.
