r.a.s! This is where you'd get some help! PLEASE! Sound setup runs properly
and recognizes soundcard, but N2 features absolute silence! Help me!

ok - io'll respond but i am not am expert. in fact what i am about to
say  i cant totally describe.

win 98 and installed ICR2 for windows! no sound
sys=p3 500mg with moster sound 256mg ram...
well to make a long story short - 98 didn't allow manual settings like
dos ( i know) because it makes its own. what happened on my sys was
the printer was using the setting i needed for ICR2. so "all" i have
to do is go into cmos...disable printer function...and sound!

guess what? i don't play ICR2 anymore :(

sorry i know its not what you wanted to hear-

I'm betting your plug and Pray sound card settings are outside the
allowable irq's for N2.  I just got a new system and although it had
soundblaster compatiblity, the irq was waaaay up aroun 11 or 14.  Since
older games like N2 often only looked for 3, 5, or 7 for the irq's, you
had problems.  Check the resources under your Device Manager and see
what irq your sound card has.  Also,  you "may" need dos drivers to get
the game to work,  remember, even tho it runs under windows, at it's
heart...N2 is a dos program.  (sorry about the sentence run-on!)

Look up your sound card in your device manager; look unde legacy device
properties; DOS application settings tab; note the port, DMA, IRQ. Start
the soundset program in N2 directory and manually configure the settings
to match the one found in your device manager.
