Good question... I somehow wondered about it also.  If I check out stats
about his racing career, this is what happened with him in 1967 :

69th race : Monaco #16 McLaren/BRM Started 10th/finished 4th
70th race : Holland #17 McLaren/BRM Started 14th/Accident
71th race : France  #8   Eagle/Weslake Started 5th/Ignition problem
72th race : U.K.     #10 Eagle/Weslake Started 10th/Motor problem
73th race : Germany #10 Eagle/Weslake Started 5th/Oil problem
74th race : Canada #19 McLaren/BRM  Started 6th/finished 7th
75th race : Italy   #4     McLaren/BRM  Started 3rd/Motor problem
76th race : U.S.A #14  McLaren/BRM  Started 9th/Water leak
77th race : Mexico #14 McLaren/BRM Started 8th/Oil pressure problem

So as you can see.. what a disastrous season ;)  So you can now easily see
what happened with him in the real life...

He finished the season in 14th place with 3points.  The next year until his
death he raced with his own McLaren/Ford team

That's ok.. we may have different opinions with you but we don't mind
helping anybody with a related to racing problem ;)

Just WHAT is the deal with the "--------" things that you insert all over
your posts? I've attended numerous language classes (both English and
foreign(to me at least)) over the years. I know of, and understand
periods, commands, semi-colons, colons, question marks, exclamation
points, umlats, carats, tildes, quotation marks, hyphens, elipses, en-
dashes, em-dashes, and all other manner of grammatical icons. But never,
NEVER have I run across a series hypens being used as a way to segregate
thoughts.

Try a period. It's simple, easy, and does the job. It also makes the task
of reading a post much more easier than your --------- things.

The Ford 4 cam was in 1966. McLaren started the 1967 season with a McLaren

F2 car with a BRM 2 Liter V-8. A makeshift F1 car. After Ginther left
McLaren
became Gurney's team mate until the Canadian GP. McLaren had built his own
F1
car, but the BRM V-12 was several months late. This was the reason for the
F2
conversion and joining Gurney. McLaren had already started a 1968 car for
the
Cosworth. So the McLaren V-12 was only used for about 3 races at the end
of
1967 and for the first race in 1968. Then it was sold to Jo Bonnier.

Does this help?

I have seen photos ----------- I thought it was of 1967----  where
Bruce McLaren was racing what I THOUGHT was HIS car with a FORD INDY 4
CAM ENGINE.

But then in reading some old text from the 1967 GP year --------- it
seems Ginther took a break to consider retirement ( and eventually
did) and in doing so it was rumored that either A.J. FOYT ot BRUCE
MCLAREN would be the GURNEY team replacement.

It turns out that MCLAREN got the assignment.

SO ---------- if that is true ------ when did MCLAREN drive HIS car?

I was under the impression that he started driving it toward the end
of the 1967 season, but that would have put him about the time he
started driving for GURNEY in the EAGLE.

I know this has nothing to do about GPL -------- (what a relief some
of you may say !!!!  :-)     )     but I can't find the answer
anywhere.

Re: Bruce McLaren ...

Francois already answered the question, but here's a link to a great
site with all the information about every Formula One race every run:

http://www.forix.com/

Another site you should check out is the one dedicated to the 1967
season, with articles from Motorsport magazine for every race of that
year:
