I've dug out my old NASCAR Racing 2 game for the first time, but can't get
decals to show up in the paint shop. I've imported, but how to you actually
change the decals on the cars? Thanks

Good for you Fuz...
I still get the urge to fire up my old games once in a while.
I retain a AMD K6-2/500 system just for that purpose.
Video is Creative Labs 16mb Voodoo Banshee and there resides Nascar & Nascar
2 (with beta 3dfx voodoo patch).

I *used* to have a 486 with a Creative Labs 3D Blaster accelerator on a Vesa
Local Bus.
The card came bundled with 5 games, one being Nascar.
This particular Nascar version was designed for the accelerator and would
not work without it.
That was in the days (94-95) when Papy and Creative had some things going.
Needless to say, it was then that my ***ion to Nascar began...and so far
shows no sign of letting up :-|

Everyone had  a AMD K6 - right now mine is sitting in my garage with
nothing but music on it. All legal of course. Haha the 486's - My monitor is
sitting on one right now! With a 2 gig and  4gig HD with a tape backup and
two floppy drives along with a 2400 baud modem all running under DOS
6.0..lol remember the turbo button those things had..lmao

Yeah from time to time I'll play some of the old games. Here's a few on the
p166 running win95 with 2 40gig HD's and running 128mg of edo ram with a
voodoo banshee and a blaster sounds card.
Papys Nascar racing and Indy car racing 2
Duke Nukem
Road Rash
Andretti racing
Destructing Derby
Moto Racer
PBA bowling
motocross madness

just to name a few..the kids now a days have no idea what they missed out
on!

486's had turbo buttons?  I don't recall that, just the 8088, and 8086
machines IIRC.

My 386/40 had one..

I do not remember them on 486s either but I would not rule it out

Most 486 boards had the turbo connector on the board for the switch to
connect to.
I always shorted it with a jumper so it was always enabled...and then moved
the switch onto the fsb connector or cpu multiplier.
Now *that* was a turbo! Options usually ran from 25, 33,40,50 MHz for the
FSB.
It was cool running my AMD 5x86-133MHz to 160MHz at the touch of a button.
It was always very stable..and helped push the bus to near P100
speeds....not bad for a quad clocked 486 cpu! :-)
