Yes Mika I connected it...
I know about it from before I bought it, because when I was going to buy it
I kept thinking... "Surely I have a power plug left to do this..." However
the old 4600 I had, did NOT have the extra jack for the same (many such
cards did though) and would not over clock because it would whine about
under powered... I do have a nice Newer powersupply.
Anyway, let me tell you what all I did last night,
well 1st tell you that I think it is running RBR OK now... OK with the 71.89
nvidia's site drivers least with limited PC time last night (I hate summer
ya know, we're just tooo dang busy anymore)
Anyway, 1st thing I did... Still thinking it was driver issue with DX9 or
whatever, I launched 3dconfig for NR03, set it to Directx high res, 16 bit
(I think it was) loaded nascar totally expecting a crash right away, but it
ran just PEACHY. Some artifacts & stuff but it ran.
so no more DX theory... Since It ran and I was unsure exaclty which driver
I last had installed I re-downloaded the latest, installed them. But didnt
go back to nascar, I decided hmmm wonder what 32 bit would crash too in
RBR... Dont know why I tried 32 bit, it seems it could have been not really
anything I would have tried normally? Why was it that I ran in 1024x768,
BUT IN 16bit modes for the ti4600 thinking (reading)? I guess, I thought
that doin so gives the card a wee bit of elbo room to keep frames up, least
it did in NR03... so I did it every where by default. anyway, So I
switched it to 32 bit ran the quick rally until I wrecked... no problems
(course I was only on track for the total 2er something minutes again
figuring it would lock up before I wrecked ya know...) seems fine now?
So I went in and bumped the resolution to 1280x1024 (and color depth to
32bit, on everything I have installed... except the desktop of course, lil
woman doesnt like to squint.. I only got to play with everything for 45
minutes total, seems I should be ok enough to send in the rebate (you have
to cut the box serial number off) and put old card into the folk's machine
now...
I cant believe 16 v 32 bit fixed it, but seems to have.
Im going to test our the drivers from Guru3d as suggested by Ross, maybe
this weekend... Thanks Everyone!
