ANNOUNCE - GPL runs as a server under Linux

by Alan Chandle » Tue, 20 Feb 2001 15:55:14

I have just managed to get GPL running under Linux, using WINE.

I am afraid its only as a server at the moment - there are some
problems with getting keystrokes recognised.  But by setting up
core.ini to run as a a dedicated server (using server.ini to
initialise races), you can get over those hurdles.

Of course I have only been able to do limited testing on my home local
area network, with the server running itself and a computer ai car,
and myself connecting in as a client.

If anyone's interested in taking this further, e-mail me, and I will
explain exactly whats necessary to get it going (I'm running off the
recent version of wine from the CVS repository - and you have to tweak
the local copy of the registry to get it to recognise your IP address)
