Just downloaded it today and raced a couple hours with some folks online.
This track is something to behold with FSAA turned on... it's just like
being there.  It's times like this that make me really appreciate my ATI
video card... money well spent.

And I finally figured out the corkscrew!

Just out of curiosity, what settings are you using on your card and in game?

It's no Bathurst...

(But it's close!) ;-)

Bathurst is fun to drive, but it's a particulary good track on which to
race.  Too many walls in the twisty bits which leaves 1 or 2 good
passing spots.  Now that I think about it, I guess Laguna is the same
way but without the walls.

Sounds like you have not downloaded GTR yet... get it from www.sbdt.co.uk.
Once you have it installed over top of F12k2 you will see the multiplayer
setup which shows you online games to join.

1024x768x32 resolution with 2xFSAA and 4xAF... both in performance mode.
Detail level is set to "quality".

I'm running it on a radeon 9500 o/c to 325/195 and ECS K7S5A with XP 1800+
o/c to 147/147 which gives 2000+ performance. 512MB PC133 SDRAM.

Hoping to upgrade soon to a barton 2500+ and DDRam with a radeon 9700... kid
will get my old machine ;-)

I've driven Bathurst on TOCA so I agree it's pretty amazing and fun. Has it
been ported to GTR yet?

Mmm, multiplayer must not be in the "light" interface, the only one I manage
to run.

Oh well... How good is multiplayer, anyway? (let's say, compared to GPL?)

Not even close.  You CAN get a small group working ok, but overall it is
very weak.  THe multiplayer option is up on the arrows that change from a
test session to a full race or championship.  Just keep cycling through and
you'll find the MP section.  You may also want to search for F1rst2.  A
good vroc like utility that removes 'some' of the F1 2k2/mods annoyances.

I must have my settings too high. I just got a 9700 Pro but when I turn on even
2xFSAA, the FPS drops to 11.

Yikes, something is wrong. I'm getting 40-50 fps with this setup.

I tried 1600x1200 32bit, 16xansi with everything in game set to the maximum.
Maybe I should back it down some. :0

what processor and memory? A 9700 should have no problem with it unless it's
in an exceptionally slow system.
