GLP still lcoks up even after overwritting V2DX6 drivers

by Prowl » Mon, 26 Oct 1998 03:00:00

I had the "Instant pop to the player name screen....mouse lockup
problem", and everyone said it was the new Voodoo2 DX6 drivers.  I
reinstalled the standard drivers again, but I still get the same lock up.

Anything else that is know to cause this?

Certainly the latest reference drivers from 3DFX cause this but the latest
Creative Beta ones fix that problem. Also reinstall DX6 after reinstalling
the CL drivers. Also be VERY VERY wary if you have an Intel SE440BX1
M/Board. I had P4 version of the Phoenix BIOS installed. Then I saw they had
a P10 so upgraded and Audio started locking up (stuttering) and game crashes
all over the place. Couldn't find my old P4 version anywhere so tried P9 (on
their site) same problem. Finally got onto the local Intel rep who sent me
P7 and it fixed the problem. Latest is not always best.
