LAN problem with Super 1 Karts

by Hans-Ott » Sun, 07 May 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

I can't seem to get the game working on IPX LAN which is the only thing the
game supports with more than two players. I get this "Sync error" after a
few seconds and a little later everything gets weird. My network works well
with TCP/IP and games. I have tried alot of changes in the gp.cfg and
config.cfg files without luck. I also tried different frametypes. Hope Midas
have tested the multiplayer system before launching the game :-) LAN is most
important for me so this was a drawback. Maybe it's too early to ask this as
the game is fairly new?

Cya,

Go into the network part of control panel and make sure that you have the
IPX protocol installed, and it should say that the protocal (if there) is
bound to your network card, if it isnt there at all, go to 'add' 'protocol'
'microsoft' then add the IPX protocal.

hmm I have it installed and configured in that way and I've tried various
different things without luck. I get into the game and the comm between the
machines in the menues are ok. This happens after
driving for 15-20 secs. Weird stuff. They should have implemented TCP/IP too
don't you think?

definitely tcp\ip, it would of made it a lot easier!

Ok, I think I found out one important thing:

It looks almost certainly that the problem lies in the game itself as GPL
works perfect now with IPX, but the problem is still there in S1K.
I can get rid of the "Sync error" now by changing the

ipxresetecbs=off to ON in the gp.cfg, but after driving abit the the other
kart is not showing up in the same place on both machines.
Networking is not too easy sometimes...
