Is beyond hot.

I wish this version of Spa were in f1c.

So, to further your comparison, you'd like to see the F1c version in
Pole Position?
The version of ISI's sim engine is newer than F1c.  THe Simbin team has
had the luxury of actually traveling to each track, ISI was never allowed
such extravagances by Electronic Arts.
If GTR is as good as it looks, I doubt we will be using F1c much longer.
The real problem I've heard, is that Simbin is using a slightly different
file format, and thus Modding may NOT be as easy as with F1c.

I wanted to stuff the track into f1c, because it's entirely more
convincing than the ISI version, but the track file format is *.GTR.
I haven't tried opening it with a MAS editor to see if it's just a mas
file.

As far as not using f1c goes, I stopped using it ages ago when I got
sick of spinning on seams in the track surface.  Every few weeks (i.e.
after the F1 race) I feel like playing it again, reinstall it, lose
control over a kerb that doesn't merge with the track correctly (or
worse, a piece of track that doesn't merge with the track correctly),
and uninstall it again.

Also, the version of Suzuka in Pole Position 2 is way more accurate
than the one in F1C. =)

Absolutely no idea what that problem is that you're having. After tweaking a
setup this past week for Imola, I'm once again reminded how superb a sim F1C
is.

If GTR is great, it's because F1C is great.

You may simply have your x axis setting too high, which makes the car
unnecessarily twitchy and hard to control.

It's no GPL.

Sad isn't it.

Gotten the 65 mod yet?  It actually doesn't feel too bad, granted it's
about as exciting as racing F2 cars.

From what I understand modding will be fine.  I *think* the plan is to
encrypt SBDT's content (their tracks, cars, etc) so idiots like the
guy who did the half-assed GTR2002 conversion for F1C can't *** with
it.  I'm 99% sure you will still be able to add your own content to
the game.

Actually, I don't mean to dis the new GTR.  It's fixed almost everything I
didn't like abt. GTR 2002.  I tried it for abt. an hour yesterday, and I
must say it feels more like driving a real race car than anything I've ever
done indoors (including "shake 'n' bake" NASCAR***pit simulators).  The FF
and sound FX are stupendous, the physics are believable, the graphics are
awesome, and the overall experience is totally immersive.  Kudos to Doug
Arnao and the entire SimBin crew.

Yeah, that idiot is known as XzibitA - he's on the RSC and BH forums telling
everyone how bad the GTR demo is, grip is totally wrong blah, blah.  Pretty
rich coming from someone that produced the truly awful BPR mod for F1 2002
and the GTR2002 'conversion' for F1C.

I agree on the initial impression.  Only negative thing I could
honestly think to say about the demo is that it's impossible to tell
what the tires are doing without ffeedback (the tire sounds are
quieeeeet).  Aside from that it feels damn good.  And that version of
Spa is probably the best track that I've ever driven in an ISI game.
