GPL: voodoo2 lockups gone for me?

I was having a voodoo2 lockup problem in 800x600 with GPL and nothing else,
even at 80 mhz clock rate.  I moved my v2100 to a different slot and now no
lockups in 5+ hours.  I thought every consecutive pair of pci slots is
linked somehow, so maybe that's why?   Or maybe it just stays cooler...
