The graphics have recently been upgraded, the cars looking very
different to what they did in GP2; the game ultimately having to compete
with F1RS in terms of graphics. The game three PC magazines played
recently was an earlier version with old GP2 style graphics.
It will support 3dfx, IPX play, and will feature wet weather and the
1997 season, as well as a probable improvement to physics, esp.
slipstreaming. Also, the pitlane has been modified from GP2 to reflect
a real F1 pitlane better.
There's apparently some hoo-ha going on, probably with the FIA, delaying
the release of it by a long time, but the development is supposed to be
getting near completion.
However, all of the above is just my personal piecing together of
information from a number of sources (not close ones, mind <g>), so
basically it's as speculative as anything else.

Does this mean that the "feature" which allowed the human car to pickup
non-existant slipstreaming by driving close to the pit wall will be
gone? This was a carry over from GP1.
