Anybody try GP2 on a PPro?

I ordered a PPro 200 with 32 MB Ram and a Matrox Millenium last nite :)
I will post the info once I have it.  Personnaly I will sell my P6 + board
once the PPro's MMX will be available.  I guess PPro is the way to go,
since it's only $100 more expensive than the P5/200 and you need to think
about the future of ***....Windows NT will eventually be the platform,
then the PPro will run at about the double the speed of the P5/200 due to
it's 32bit optimized archictecture (see CPUmark results of the Ppro 200
with NT and the P5/200) big difference!

BTW, think about getting a new comp? Try www.qtx.com (Quantex), that's
where I bought mine last nite..very cheap and good (I have a 486 quantex
as well and am very satisfied).

Happy driving!

I have a P6/200 with the Matrox 4 meg card and I think you are going
to be quite happy with it...

I remember Microsoft saying that they will continue with both NT and 95. NT is
designed for business, with it's stong network and file capabilities. 95 is for
home use, more suitable for games. The next release of 95 WILL have less 16-bit
code, if any at all. So I agree with your statement that the P6 is the
processor to buy, but your OS statement is wrong.

I hope you have better luck with Quantex then I did... I ordered a P6 system
from them and was told i'd have in in 2.5 to 3 weeks. After 5.5 weeks and
countless excuses ("i'm sorry, there's nothing I can do, you'll just have to
wait") I cancelled my $3400 order and took my business elsewhere. Their prices
are low but you get what you pay for.

Think you might find OS/2 an excellent 32-bit system to play games from
with your PPro.....since when it's running Dos stuff it's actually
emulating it via it's own 32-bit code.....

And GP2 looks just fine - with no apparent differences in perceptible
speed or CPU overhead reported between running it from Dos and from
OS/2. So I've got it one click of an icon away - with 640k of base
memory and the rest of the 32 Megs as DPMI for it to play happily!

Cheers!
