Those of you on the WSC eGroup have seen this no doubt, but I thought I'd
post this for the rest of you.  Thanks go to Rick Osborne for posting these
to that forum, as well as Legends Central of course.

After seeing the Monza track picture I imagine that calls for the full oval
Monza will be forthcoming. :-)

I think they have made the full oval drivable already, or it was at ECTS
late last year. I expect it'll pop up in the demo and blow our minds!

Cheers,

Andy

Ok this is something that has been BUGGING me for some time now....It's a
given that the oval at Monza is one of the most requested track addtions for
GPL.  It's also a given that those who drive Road Courses in sims like GPL
and the F1 variants, HATE ovals like Talladega.  So WHY does everyone get a
woody over the Monza oval?
Because it was in a Movie????
dave henrie
And this is not a flame...I really am curious..

I agree Dave, the Monza oval holds holds no appeal for me.

Nope.  Some of us like both.  I look forward to driving the traditional road
course aspect of it, then exiting Parabolica to accelerate up the front
straight and then up onto the banking, drafting the whole way in a close
battle.  Well, till I spin out of course. :-/

I think that many of those who hate ovals will like this combination.  The
monotony of a normal oval will be offset by the other portions of the track.
Do you honestly have no interest, say, in seeing the 24 Hours of Daytona
track with banking in WSC simply because it incorporates a large portion of
the oval?  Different series and cars and all I know, but I love watching
those sports cars accelerate over the banked portions and trying to outbreak
eachother into the first turn of the road portion.   And I'd like to do the
same in GPL.  Curva Granda is going to be intense, coming in as we will
after sustained high speeds on the oval.  Bring it on, I say!  Just so long
as Dave Henrie has his regular version of Monza for his own amu***t. :-)

Interesting question. I think it is because it is a monument of motor
racing history. Not many people here are old enough to have actually
seen a race on the oval, but many here would like to try it out in a
sim.

I was first bitten by motor racing history when I was in Berlin in
89. We were on top of this building with a view over the whole city
and my father showed the the remains of the huge banked turn of
AVUS. It totally blew me away, to just think that they actually raced
cars on a monster like that. When I finally got to try AVUS in GPL it
was a totally boring track though :) I take a lot of people feel the
same about Monza.

Uh, yeah :)
No I think it's pys- spy- psychological. You know that if a kid isn't
allowed to do something, it wants to do it even more right? Well,
everytime you pass the banking, there's this big fence blocking the
entrance.. get it?
Anyway, it's being build now, screenshots were released on the GPLEA
forum a couple of days ago..

Since I grew up watching oval races, that's what I prefer.  Even in ICR1 & 2, I
liked the ovals over the road courses(although I like them both).  Closer
racing, I guess.  When I was a kid, AF/X slot car track had a turn called the
"Monza Bank".  Funny, but I never made the connection as to *why* until I got
GPL...<g>

Hey, maybe with WSC we'll be able to recreate the "Race of Two Worlds."
