for release in a month or so. I am a huge DLM fan and follow all the stars
of DLM racing. We've got alot of racing going on in Florida this week with
Xtreme at East Bay and the new Boundless WOO series featuring the Dirty
Dozen at Volusia. I was holding some hope for this game because I did enjoy
DTR for PC with the mods and WOO Sprint Car Racing on PS2 is probably the
best console racing game I've ever played. Now we've got a new PS2 and CPU
version coming out and it was looking promising. Here's a snippet of what
was said about the game:
*Get ready for a rip roaring time on Saturday Night Speedway. Test your
racing abilities on 15 of the fastest and craziest real-world dirt tracks in
the world, including oval, figure eight, d-shaped and tri-oval tracks.
Choose from 3 vehicle classes including Street Stocks, Dirt Midgets and Late
Models. Bump and grind and spew dirt and metal as cars crash and wipe out in
spectacular fashion. In Career Mode, start off as a local hopeful and move
on to regional tournaments and then the national series. As you take the
dangerous road to victory you will repair and customize your ride, becoming
the king of Saturday Night Speedway.
Sounded ok so far. I mean I've never in my life saw a Late Model racing on a
figure 8 track but its got real world tracks in it so I will overlook that.
Then I've seen new, so called "exciting" info released about the game:
"Actually, Saturday Night Speedway has more than DTR, since it goes to
pavement/dirt tracks. It also gets away from the circular tracks a little
more and puts in track types like Leadfoot had. So now you'll be seeing
circular tracks and tracks that are more free flowing. Like tracks you'd see
in other racing games where the track wraps around itself and goes under
bridges and through tunnels etc; while still being a dirt track."
Oh my God. How can they think this is a good thing? Come on, Late Models
don't race "free flowing" tracks. How many damn dirt track road courses are
there for DLM's? None that I know of. Way to drop the ball. Since its so
cheap I might still pick up the game but I really wish Xtreme with their new
backers of Stacker 2 or the Boundless WOO Late Models would get Papy to put
a game together for them. Now THAT would be a dirt game worth salivating
over.
